Could you be a Modern Apprentice?

Most Modern Apprentices are:

• between 16 and 21 when they start their Modern Apprenticeship
• able to meet the entry requirements for the industry they're interested in (these vary from industry to industry – talk to a Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator to find out where you need to be at to get started)
• ready to start working towards a National Certificate at level 3 and/or 4.

Older than 21?

There is some room for people older than 21 who are looking to become Modern Apprentices, so talk to a Co-ordinator about your situation.

It may be that a Modern Apprenticeship isn't quite what you’re after, but talk to your Co-ordinator about your options – you may choose to do work-based training through the Industry Training scheme. 

What sort of an employer takes on a Modern Apprentice?

Employers of Modern Apprentices are people with vision who see the long-term benefits of investing in young people with potential and drive. They can see the benefits: 

• to their business of having an employee who is increasing their knowledge and expertise, and is steadily getting closer to being fully qualified.
• to their industry of helping young people choose it as a career for all of their employees of creating and developing a training culture in their workplace
